How do I initiate service with us at Life Essentials Psychology?

When and how therapy services are provided?

Services are offered during the day, afternoon, and evenings. In-person therapy is available at our Andover, MN office, and virtually via HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms (Zoom and Google Meet). We do not offer therapy services by phone.

What is the difference between Psychotherapy and Psychiatry?

Psychotherapy is mental health counseling offered in an office setting and virtually via telehealth. Psychiatry is provided by a medical doctor or nurse practitioner for psychiatric medication evaluation and prescription management.

What about the assessments?

As mental health therapists, we provide Diagnostic Assessments to formulate mental health diagnoses and direct treatment plans. We refer out for neuropsychological evaluations, comprehensive psychological testing, and comprehensive substance use disorder assessments.

Is medical insurance accepted?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we accept major plans including Aetna, America's PPO, BCBS, Cigna, HealthPartners, Hennepin Health, MA/Medicaid, Medica, Medicare, PrimeWest Health, South Country Health Alliance, TriCare, UCare, UMR, and UnitedHealthcare. In-network status can vary by specific clinician and plan network.

What happens if there are multiple active medical insurance?

To utilize insurance benefits, all insurance information must be provided. Services are billed to primary insurance first. Once processed, the remainder is sent to secondary insurance. Any balance remaining after secondary processing is the client/parent/legal guardian's responsibility.

Do you accept walk-in appointments?

No. All therapy and evaluation services are by appointment only. We do not accept walk-ins.

What are your out-of-pocket rates if I do not have insurance?

Life Essentials Psychology provides transparent out-of-pocket rates for clients who are uninsured or choose to pay cash. Under the No Surprises Act, we provide all self-pay patients with a Good Faith Estimate detailing expected charges for diagnostic assessments and ongoing psychotherapy sessions. Do you offer sliding scale or reduced-fee therapy?

Yes. We have a discount rate based on houshold income and size. Sometimes this is a more affordable, reduced out-of-pocket rate for clients. Reach out to inquire further.

What ages do you treat?

We provide comprehensive diagnostic assessments and outpatient psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors ranging from ages 6 to 100+.

Are therapy services available in languages other than English?

Accepted Answer

Yes. To ensure inclusive, culturally responsive care, our clinical team offers therapy services in English and Spanish.

Is there a way to evaluate if there is a provider is a good fit?

Yes. We offer up to a 15 minutes free consultation to evaluate if the provider and you are a good fit. It has been helpful to support the decision if this is the therapist for me.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

Accepted Answer

Your first appointment is a comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment. During this clinical interview, your therapist will systematically gather your history, discuss current symptoms and life stressors. This is for diagnosing mentla health disorders. From there work with you to formulate a tailored treatment plan and appropriate path of care.

Can I do telehealth if I live outside of Minnesota?

We currently offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth (via Zoom and Google Meet) to clients located anywhere within the state of Minnesota. We cannot provide telehealth services if you are physically located outside of this state at the time of your appointment.
